Viewpoints: How many collaborators does it take to make a Koons?
Tuesday, March 3, 7 PM
The Sonnabend Collection is comprised of many works that were produced using the labour of other artists and makers, the majority unnamed and uncredited. From ghost-writers to wives to factory-workers, many hands contribute to a work of art before it can enter a collection. Authorship conventions dictate that their names are not included on the “tombstones” next to the artworks, so how can a museum ensure that the broader context of the work it shows reaches its public and promote more inclusive perspectives on artistic production?
About the Talk: Viewpoints is an ongoing series of gallery talks led by local experts and inspired by the exhibitions and artworks on view in the museum.
Entry to Viewpoints is included with museum admission or membership.
