Silkscreen Prints – Adult Workshop
Tuesday, November 19, 7 PM
Hosted by Michael Peterson
This workshop will take place at Void Gallery
In this workshop, you will be introduced to the process of screen printing and get to print both your own t-shirt and a set of two-colour greeting cards.
With screen printing, a stencil is placed onto a fine mesh screen, and an image is made by forcing ink through the open areas of the stencil onto your printing surface, whether that is a t-shirt or piece of paper. A separate stencil has to be created for each colour, and these colours are layered one on top of the other to create the final image. It is a method with roots in graphic design that, due to its ability to create flat areas of vibrant colour and to print in multiples, was often used during the Pop Art movement by artists such as Andy Warhol.
No prior experience is required. Adult members $30, non-members $35. Teens 14–19, subsidized by MNP.
