Joyce Wieland was a groundbreaking artist and one of the key artistic figures of the 1960s and 1970s. Her films have received international acclaim and she is well known for work that reinterpreted and transformed political language by using methods and materials associated with women’s labour and the domestic realm.
Referencing an assertion made by Pierre Elliot Trudeau, Reason Over Passion, 1969, offers a sophisticated critique of his leadership and the broader political moment. The film consists of landscape footage shot from vehicles moving across the country with 537 computer-generated permutations of the film’s title.
